About this disk
---------------
Firstly, I have put the latest version of Virusx (4.01) in the "C"
directory together with KV. Virusx is in the startup-sequence and
will check for a virus when this disk is booted. It will continue to
run in the background checking ram and any other disks inserted until
you run it from the menu and decide whether you want it to continue
running or not. You will not see a virusx window until you run virusx
from the menu again and choose the relevant onscreen option.
Virusx will report a non-standard bootblock on this disk.
It is not a virus! So it is safe to ignore the warning.
**** The bootblock on this disk IS NOT A VIRUS! ****
It is merely a non-standard bootblock.
There are no icons for any of the programs on this disk, but you may
still want to run Workbench from this disk. Just click on "Load Workbench"
from the menu to bring up Workbench. The CLI screen will remain open and
the menu will still be resident until you decide to close it down.
Because there are many fonts, all in their own directories, it takes some
time for them to load into "Showfont" "viewfont" and "Prfont".
Showfont will allow you to view all the fonts in the fonts directory on
this disk and also in different screen resolutions. It will show all the
available characters for a particular chosen font, but only one set of
fonts may be viewed on screen at any one time.
Viewfont is similar to Showfont but fonts will only been seen in the current
screen resolution. However the fonts may also be viewed in BOLD ITALIC
UNDERLINED and NORMAL modes.
Prfont allows you to make a hardcopy of fonts viewed on it's hi-res
interlaced screen. Please read the docs for this first.
Fontassign allows you to load fonts from a directory other than the FONTS
directory. EG: the FONTS directory in DF1: or fonts you may have stored
in any other named directory of your choice on any disk.
Setfont allows you to alter the default topaz font to any font of your
choice for Workbench or CLI. The effect of some fonts is quite pleasing,
but some will be far too large and will create a messy and unreadable
screen. This font is Topaz and the CLI uses the "Clean" font ......
Many of you may want to use these fonts and others you come across in
an SSTV of FAX program. Deluxe paint 3 readily accepts any font which can
be incorporated as is, in your own pictures. If you have artistic tendencies
then no doubt you could improve the look and effect of some fonts.
However I strongly suggest that if you want effects similar to those on
the boot screen of this disk, then get a copy of TV*TEXT PROFESSIONAL.
This program allows you to include your own pictures which can then be
overlaid with text produced from any fonts which can be processed in a
number of ways to get the desired effect. It's an extremely simple process.
Needless to say there are many other features such as borders, shapes and
many more too numerous to mention....so I wont! There is another picture
produced with the help of TV*TEXT called Pic-3. It can be viewed by
clicking on "pic-3" in the menu. Another program I strongly recommend is
PIXMATE.
Ultimately the effect of your fonts will depend on the screen resolution
used, number of colours (bitplanes) and whether you decide to enhance
them using one of the popular paint or image processing programs.
